J1a. ABOUT WEBLOGS
Content is routinely and frequently updated. Entries are displayed in a common and predictable format. As entries accrue over time, the site's author-editor develops a personal and/or expert knowledge base to be shared with friends and/or the web at large. Weblogs have been among the hot phenomena in personal and orginizational web sites in the past few years for the simple reason that the weblog format provides surfers with an incentive to make return and repeated visits to a site in pursuit of "appointment" and/or "destination" content. Weblogs are inherently more interesting than a static site no matter how cleverly arranged or animation filled. On the other hand, weblogs can be a good deal more labor intensive than a static site, pariticularly if maintained by hand and/or conventional <html> editors With traditional methods, providing coherent access to archive materials presents additional complexity and tedium. SophiaKnows provides a simple intuitive toolset automating the more burdensome tasks in this process as well a friendly, powerful interface for designing and formatting the display of the log contents.
