(Daily Mi: 11.4) Steep climb down into Duncannon (1800' x 1 mi). Nice view of the place from ledges proceeding the descent. Now here's a town that lives up to its seedy reputation. Took a room at the Doyle Hotel. An old tattered blanket has been tacked over my window in lieu of curtains, and the bedsprings sag to within an inch of the floor. Still, the linens have recently been dusted and I am used to hanging my food. Unfortunately the bar/restaurant on the ground floor has temporarily lost its license (the former owner is under indictment), and I was forced to get my traditional draft of Yeungleung at the equally seedy tavern down the street. Took a shower. Did my laundry. Had a nice italian dinner with Piper, Choo Choo, Commander and Scout. Am taking tomorrow off as my friend Chris will be meeting me here on the 24th to hike for a few days.
