(Daily Mi: 21.3) Hiked like a bear to make up for yesterday. Rained off and on as per usual. Saw by good daylight where I had taken the loop fork in the fog the day before. Ha.

A little bit on were the graves of two local brothers who had been murdered while home on leave from the Union Army during the Civil War. Wouldn't have passed those twice.

Met some guys out running their bear dogs while I had lunch. They explained that they release the dogs, the dogs chase the bears, the bears run for the government bear sanctuary and they spend the rest of afternoon rounding up the dogs. I tell them that in Maine hunters just put out a pot of bacon grease and wait for the bears to come to them. This makes them whistful.
