(Daily Mi: 0.0) Had breakfast with Piper, Choo Choo, Gizmo, and a famous (to me anyway) hiker named Dave "Lightning Bolt" Brock. This is Dave's second AT thru-hike. He did the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) last year, and has (among other adventures) solo paddled the Yukon. This year he had left Springer on April 17, meaning he has come 1274.8 miles in 48 days (or a little better than 26.5 miles a day) The Potato Man had stopped at the 14 mile shelter last night and happened to be hiking into town and past the diner just as we were sitting down to breakfast. I ran out to call him in and found myself lifted skyward in an emphatic bear hug. Picked up my drop box at the PO after breakfast and took a shuttle with Choo Choo and the P Man to Stroudsburg nearby to do laundry (there is no laundry or grocery store in Delaware Water Gap itself).Later, in my freshly laundered clothes, I checked myself over in a store window. I looked like a scrubbed and pampered derelict. This is, I think, accurate enough. Moved to the Ramada with Choo Choo and the Potato Man tonight. Had another diner meal with the usual suspects as well as two northbound thru-hikers named Chaser and the Flying Porkchop.
