Ten Mile River Lean-to (AT Mi: 1440.0)
June 24, 2002
(Daily Mi: 13.0) Hiked the first 7 miles w/the Pipe to his big finish. Nice moment. His wife had tied a finish line ribbon accross the road access. She drove us all to a deli (this is becoming a theme) for a celebratory lunch.

Woodman and I walked the last, relatively flat six miles very quickly to gorgeous campsite as the convergence of the ten mile river with the Connecticut.

We were in fairly early, 4 pm or so. Had a nice swim in the Ten Mile River (just above where it joins the much dirtier Connecticut)

Felt bad for the Woodman getting in and out of the water as his feet are so scr*wed that he has to crawl without his boots on (which is one way he is not ultra-light)

Woodman plans his next couple of days the way I do. Goes through the guide .1 mile by .1 mile checking off reliable water and noting features. We compare notes and chat as we cook and eat dinner. Pleasant way to spend an evening.
