(Daily Mi: 20.0) Another marathon walk today. Only serious hump was Mt Cube (2911 ft). Kind of cool series of granite ledges at the summit, but I managed to lose the horizontal blazes at some point and ended up bushwhacking through spruce to get back on the Trail.

Stopped at Hexacuba, a Hexagonal shelter (and privy) designed by Dartmouth students. Find entries from Jiffy! and the Woodman. Looks like Jiffy is about half a day up. The Woodman appears to be on the same marathon schedule I am walking and is a full two days up.

Have lunch and rewater at Ore Hill shelter about 13.5 miles into my hike. Meet a nice southbounding couple from Georgia, Brown Trout and Flutterby.

Run into Choo Choo about 3 miles from Glencliff. I walk with her for a bit. She is moving slowly. Says Jiffy passed her on his way to Glencliff around luchtime.

For the last two miles or so to the Glencliff road Mt Moosilauke (4830 ft) -- which I will climb tomorrow -- looms large above the landscape.

The town of Glencliff is about .5 miles off trail. It consists of the last U.S. Post Office before the entering White Mountain Natl Forest as well as a hiker hostel:'Hikers Welcome' run factory style by a former thru hiker. There are snacks, sodas and gear for sale. There is a bunk room with rental matresses upstairs, 3 shower stalls and a cluster of tents in back. I take a tent and shower for 8 dollars and pay an extra two to use the washer and dryer.

Big group of section hikers and random southbounders in. Chatted with Jiffy who I last saw in southern VT. Says he saw Woodman about a day ago. Meet a pair of tour hikers, Beer Man and SoBo who started the Trail in Georgia have but skipped a couple of sections on their way here, most notably the states of PA, NJ and NY. About an hour after dark we are joined by the Apricot who started south of Smarts Mt and must have hiked almost 25 miles today.
