(Daily Mi: 11.8) Fairly short day, but in fact 3.5 miles longer than I had planned (didn't like the crowd at the first shelter). Woods here smell like they did when I was first setting out in May. The trees. The dirt. It makes me nostalgic for those early days on the Trail with my old friends. Had bad leg pain. My endurance was fine. I just hurt. Blackburn is run by the Potomac Appalachian Trail Club (PATC). The Center has a little cabin/bunkroom for hikers. It's got windows, a door and a functioning woodstove. This will be my first time alone in a shelter since starting the Trail.
